Changeover completed
I’ve moved the database and made a number of site improvements, most of which will not be apparent to the user.
However, the most significant change is the addition of the comments feed, now available in the sidebar. Keeping abreast of comments here is a great way to stay on top of reader contributions.
As always, should you have suggestions on site improvements, please contact .

Moving pains coming up
I’ll be doing some moving of this site over the next few days. Don’t be surprised if you can’t visit.

We took a break
By now it is obvious that Weekly Anamnesis has been on an unannounced summer hiatus. We’ll return with the next prompt on Monday, September 8.
In the meantime, you’re welcome to pick an old prompt, any old prompt, and riff away.

Ready, set, go!
All righty, folks, I think that except for the manual link and author updating (which will take me a month or so to complete), everything at the new home of Weekly Anamnesis is ready to go.
If you have suggestions, please e-mail me using the contact link in the sidebar.
The first prompt of the new year will be up tomorrow morning. Happy writing!
How to Participate
A few months ago, my friend and I thought it would be interesting to post a different word each week. The word would be something broad, but not cliched: something like difference, or indiscretion, or smoke (all of which have been past prompts). Then, bloggers-turned-writers would post personal anecdotes inspired by the prompt, incorporating the word somehow. At the end of the week, all the participants could read each other’s recollections. We figured, isn’t that the point of blogs? To write about ourselves and somehow make a connection?
So that’s what we’ve done. Each Monday (usually in the morning), we post a new prompt word. After that, you get to writing. There are only a few simple guidelines that we came up with, in the spirit of keeping everything cohesive and purposeful:
1. Unless you’re going to open yourself up, don’t bother. It defeats the entire purpose of it, if you’re going to make shit up, or pretend that something is what it isn’t. You don’t need to give super specific details, or anything like that. But, you have to give something of yourself into this.
2. Think about the topic seriously. If it’s a funny topic, that’s fine. if it’s not, take it seriously, and really think about an interesting, deep, wonderful, painful, glorious, infamous, whatever story. Don’t simply read the topic, and decide right then and there what to write about. You’ve got a week. Use as much time as you need.
3. Post a link in your entry to this site, so that your readers can find out how they can also participate.
4. Comment at this site with a link to the post so that we can keep track of them. This way, people can see what everyone writes about. At the end of the week, we’ll post them all in one entry on both sites, and let people take that post, and make it for themselves. It’s a collaborative writing project.

Track co.mments
I’ve just noticed that if you’re subscribed to the site feed for Weekly Anamnesis, you’ll see a “Track co.mments” link in the feed whenever it’s updated. That gives you another (but still related) easy way to track comments on each post.
If you’d like to try it out, set up an account at co.mments.

A new home for Weekly Anamnesis
Participants will no doubt have noticed that lately Weekly Anamnesis has been something less than weekly. Due to other obligations (plus the pesky fact that administration often replaces other forms of action), the former proprietor asked me to take over (so that she may return to the writing). In the process, a few changes have been introduced.
First, you’ll notice that Weekly Anamnesis has its own domain, so no more Blogger (not that there’s anything wrong with that). If you use bookmarks of any sort, please update.
If you’ve been subscribed to the Blogger feed, please update to http://feeds.feedburner.com/WeeklyAnamnesis. Or you may prefer to sign up for e-mail updates in the sidebar.
I’ve created a comments feed but am having some trouble implementing it. Comments, of course, are where you tell the rest of us when you’ve written your weekly anamnesis and are thus an important part of the community.
There are a couple of other ways you could monitor comments. Once you’ve posted a link to your post in the comments section of a post, you have the option of being notified (by e-mail) of new comments. You could also choose to set up an account at co.mments. Once you’ve installed the bookmarklet and subscribed to your personal feed, it’s a simple matter to keep up with what’s new. I’ve personally used co.mments for a while now and have been satisfied with its performance.
Suggestions for other ways to monitor comments are welcome.
The import process left a few things undone that will be corrected as time passes. All links to your posts have been lost and will have to be manually updated (I’d be grateful for offers of help, but not if they’ll get in the way of your writing). Currently, it looks like Kelly’s done all the work around here (when all I’ve done is set up this site), so I’ll also be updating the author links to reflect who actually wrote the original posts. Eventually, I’ll shut down the Blogger site.
In addition to taking on the administrative duties here at Weekly Anamnesis, I blog at kangmi and Ginkgo Dreams and have just opened up shop at Hints and Guesses, my personal blog. I like a bit of writing myself and hope to share some of my own memories as time permits. My hope is that Weekly Anamnesis will once again be a thriving community of writers.
You may see some other activity here in the next couple of days, but the real fun begins with the first prompt of the year. Clean the crumbs out of your keyboards and expect to see it up on Monday morning.

Definitely news.
Hi everyone,
Well, this is my goodbye post--Cuccu will be taking over the blog. It might switch locations, so keep an eye open. I appreciate her willingness to take over, and I am sure she’s going to take good care of the project Pete and I started over 7 months ago!
It’s unfortunate that I am too busy with school to keep up on something so fun and easy, but those are the breaks, as my grandfather says. Many thanks to those of you who offered to help; I responded to the first email I got. And many, many thanks to all of you for participating week after week and sharing your memories with everyone.
Take care!

News?
Hi everyone,
I apologize for not having posted a new topic this week...it’s been a busy week. Quite frankly, this is hard for me to keep up with, especially with posting links, etc. It seems like it should only take a few minutes (which it does, without the linking), but those are minutes that I could be spending doing other things. As some of you know, I’m a full-time graduate student who is going into her thesis year. Since starting Anamnesis, I’ve run out of minutes in the day--I’ve taken down my own blog, and very rarely get to just “have fun” on the computer. While I love the concept of this, and would love to see everyone’s entries if I got the chance, this is starting to feel like a chore.
The point is, does anyone want to take this over? Email me at natalieATfricativeDOTnet and I’ll hand over all the info. I am willing to post a new prompt next week if no one takes it over by then. So we have a little while for everyone to mull it over.
Thanks all, and I appreciate your understanding.
Natalie
